What are defective pixels and how are they different from dead pixels?
Defective pixels are any pixel on a display that does not work, and dead pixels are but one category of defects. A faulty pixel may manifest itself as a black dot (dead pixel), a bright or colored dot (stuck pixel), or an irregularly lit dot. A dead pixel will not respond at all—showing no light, and other bad pixels might show some light but respond in the wrong manner. The problems arise because of problems in the internal components of the pixel, mainly the transistor or subpixels.
